The Green Line is a visionary landscape proposal for Yanggao Road in Pudong, Shanghai, transforming a vehicle-oriented corridor into a vibrant green boulevard. The design integrates landscape architecture, sustainable mobility, and public realm improvements to create a resilient, people-focused urban environment. By reconnecting fragmented neighborhoods and introducing high-quality public spaces, the project enhances both environmental performance and everyday urban life. Design Vision
The project envisions Yanggao Road as a continuous green spine that seamlessly links communities, commercial districts, and recreational spaces. Through extensive planting, elevated walkways, and integrated cycling infrastructure, the proposal prioritizes pedestrians while creating a distinctive urban identity that reflects Shanghai’s commitment to sustainable development. The landscape strategy combines generous tree planting, floating gardens, shaded plazas, rain gardens, and multifunctional public spaces to improve biodiversity and user experience.
